Meet Our Instructor: Sandra
This July, our bubbly Instructor-of-the-month Sandra Lim speaks to us about guilty pleasures and being a crazy cat lady!
Hi Sandra, how did you get into Pilates?
My Pilates journey started when I was 18 years old and trying to rehabilitate from a ballet injury. My then ballet mistress gave me an ultimatum- take Pilates or no more classes for you. I started my first class in the STOTT headquarters in Toronto and have never looked back. I decided to become an instructor 7 years ago when I decided that I wanted to share how Pilates have changed my life for the better with others.
What do you enjoy most about Pilates?
The challenge of having to “be in the moment” to execute a movement correctly and precisely.
What was your inspiration to start Breathe Pilates with Thicha?
Thicha’s infectious energy and the fact that we have similar visions and goals for a Pilates wellness centre made it easy for us to collaborate together.
What other workouts do you do?
Badminton and pole dancing
Favourite guilty pleasure?
Eating too expensive chocolates by the bars.
What about your dream destination?
Greenland- for all it’s unbridled ruggedness.
What is the one must-fulfill item on your bucket list?
To ski across Greenland
What do you do to unwind after a long day?
Snuggling with my 4 cats and being a crazy cat lady
You have also studied in Matthew Kenney Culinary Thailand and love your healthy food. Tell us more about your daily diet and Live Fruitfully.
Food hasn’t always been the focal point in my life but I have made it so with the start-up of Live Fruitfully. I wanted to share with people that life can be so much more fruitful by changing what we put into our bodies. You are really what you eat. I have cut out gluten, dairy and meat from my diet and have never felt more energized!
Any workout tips for Pilates beginners?
Breathe. Just breathe. Everything will be ok.
